Feeding / Medication Schedule
The record of what, when, and how much a pet is fed and which medications it receives during boarding or daycare — followed by staff and logged to ensure correct, safe care.
A feeding and medication schedule is the detailed instruction set for what a pet eats and which medications it takes while in a facility's care, along with times and dosages. It is one of the most safety-critical pieces of information in boarding and daycare, because a missed insulin dose or the wrong food for a pet with allergies or a prescription diet can cause real harm.
The schedule captures specifics: the type and amount of food, how many times a day and when, whether the owner supplied the food or the facility provides it, and any feeding notes (soak the kibble, feed separately from other dogs). For medication it records the drug, dose, route, timing, and special handling, plus who is authorized to administer it.
In software, feeding and medication instructions live on the pet's profile and flow onto the kennel card at the run, so on-shift staff see them at the point of care. Better systems turn them into a checklist or task list for each shift — reminders that a dose is due, and a log where staff record that they gave it, with a timestamp and initials. That log is both an operational tool and legal documentation.
For facilities, charging for medication administration as an add-on is common, and the schedule ties into that billing. Accurate feeding/medication tracking is a frequent point of comparison when evaluating boarding software.
