Meet and Greet (M&G)
A short introductory session — often free — where a pet, owner, and provider meet before service begins, used to assess temperament, gather care details, and confirm fit for daycare, boarding, pet sitting, or dog walking.
A meet and greet (often abbreviated M&G) is the introductory appointment held before a new client's service starts. For pet sitters and dog walkers it usually takes place in the client's home; for daycare and boarding facilities it happens on-site. The goal is to reduce risk and set expectations on both sides.
During an M&G the provider assesses the pet's temperament and behavior, learns feeding and medication routines, gets a home tour and key or lockbox details, and confirms the animal is a good fit for the service (for example, a daycare will watch how a dog behaves with other dogs). The owner, in turn, meets the person who will care for their pet and can ask questions.
Many businesses offer the meet and greet for free as a sales tool — it builds trust and dramatically improves booking conversion. Others charge a small fee for in-home visits to cover travel time.
In pet-care software, an M&G is typically booked like any appointment but tagged as a specific type, sometimes gated so a client can't book recurring service until the M&G is complete. Notes captured during the M&G flow into the pet and client profile, and intake forms or service agreements are often signed at this stage.
